II. Our practice

In among our extensive corporate client base, we have been developing a growing private services niche to address the needs of an increasing number of ultra high net-worth individuals (“UHNWIs”) seeking advice and assistance over a broad range of matters.

III. Indicative recent experience

We have recently advised:

  • An UHNWI  with regard to a complex set of more than 35 interrelated multi-million court claims, including shareholder disputes, management accountability, accounting fraud and issues related to corporate internal investigations;
  • An UHNWI with regard to the enforcement of transboundary interim measures regarding confidentiality obligations arising from the resignation of a hedge fund’s director interconnected with a matrimonial dispute;
  • An UHNWI  with regard to complex tax planning issues involving, amongst other, ownership of private islands through multi-tier offshore holding structures;
  • A cohort of leading international law firms in relation to contentious local tax matters pertaining to taxation of branches of EU-based law firms, including representation before the Ministry of Finance as well as the competent tax authority;
  • A private client with regard to matters related to litigation before European Courts in connection with the EUR 200 bn Greek PSI;
  • An UHNWI with regard to transboundary USD 550 mn litigation, including selecting local counsel in multiple jurisdictions and coordinating their services;
  • An ultra-high net worth Greek national with regard to tax redomiciliation and planning, involving the overhaul of an existing off-shore holding structure through various steps, including reshuffling corporate ownership and setting up a trust;
  • One of the top 10 insurance brokerage groups worldwide with regard to local law requirements (including tax requirements) in the context of mediation in the provision of life insurance products as a means for wealth management and tax planning;
  • UHNWIs often together with leading international private client law firms with respect to structuring or restructuring of investments in all asset classes (real estate, equity, debt, cash, yachts, aircrafts, art) and exiting the jurisdiction;
