II. Our practice

Our commercial litigation and dispute resolution team has grown up considerably in the past two years to amount 30% of our revenues in 2012 and we have represented clients in a wide variety of commercial lawsuits, including some of the most complex and sophisticated in Greece, for example cases with a multitude of plaintiffs and/or defendants. We boast a second to none success record.

III. Indicative recent experience

  • Advising an UHNWI with regard to a complex set of more than 35 interrelated multi-million court claims, including shareholder disputes, management accountability, accounting fraud and issues related to corporate internal investigations;
  • Advising an UHNWI with regard to the enforcement of transboundary interim measures regarding confidentiality obligations arising from the resignation of a hedge fund’s director interconnected with a matrimonial dispute;
  • Acting for one of the top 10 shipping groups worldwide in the context of the biggest money laundering case in Greece involving the group’s restructuring, working together with local counsel (including leading criminal specialists) in several jurisdictions;
  • Representing on an ongoing basis and with 100% success since 2008 a leading European car manufacturers’ Greek importer in extensive litigation now at the appellate level in excess of EUR 500 mn;
  • Advising a top 10 US law firm on approximately EUR 150 mn-worth arbitration in connection with a large industrial investment;
  • Acting as Greek law experts to a European Government in litigation before the country’s supreme court related to the recapitalisation of its banking sector;
  • Acting on an ongoing basis as local counsel to a magic circle law firm advising the European subsidiary of a global financial conglomerate currently under English law administration, in the  largest and most complex ever insolvency case globally and in connection with a multitude of claims and criminal proceedings initiated by various major Greek players active, among other, in the banking, health, construction and car industry; current focus is on an over EUR 10 million claim arising from an interest rate swap;
  • Representing one of the big six Hollywood film studios in claims in connection with licensing arrangements with its local distributor;
  • Acting for a supplier of the Greek branch of a Cypriot bank in connection with the pursuit of contractual claims by means of, amongst other, a European order for payment;
  • Advising a leading UK law firm in connection with an extrajudicial settlement of a multitude of shipping-related and tort claims;
  • Advising a global leader in the clothing retail industry with regard to an out-of-court dispute resolution arising from tort liability;
  • Advising an UHNWI together with three foreign law firms in three different jurisdictions in complex trust litigation;
  • Acting for a Fortune100 company, a global leader in technology innovation, in connection with the extra-judicial and judicial pursuit of claims against a local company arising from sales contracts;
  • Acting on behalf of one of the most popular football clubs in Greece in stay of execution proceedings (arising from attempted garnishment of bank accounts) that forced creditors to reach an agreement;
  • Advising a leading US investment bank together with a magic circle law firm on claims before the UK courts by a local credit institution seeking damages from derivatives transactions;
  • Advising an ultra-high net worth individual with regard to transboundary USD 550 mn litigation, including selecting local counsel in multiple jurisdictions and coordinating their services;
  • Representing an international consumables and equipment manufacturer in its defence against lawsuits filed before Greek Courts and advising on recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards.

  • Acting as local counsel to a leading Spanish law firm representing a global leading manufacturer of high frequency electronic products in litigation initiated by a local IT services provider in excess of EUR 33 mn;
  • Advising a leading German-based multinational media corporation with respect to a dispute between its optical discs replicator business and major local entertainment department store chain;
  • Representing an eponymous Latin American bank in injunctive proceedings initiated against it by a local listed entity seeking to halt payment of letters of credit;
  • Advising the top management of a major UK investment bank in connection with a claim regarding breach of contract of advisory services;
  • Advising the leading global social network company together with a US law firm on an ongoing basis with regard to obligations in the shadow of local criminal law;
  • Representing the oldest Japanese jute manufacturer in the judicial pursuit and final settlement of its claim for damages against a Greek listed entity;
  • Acting on behalf of a leading international shipbuilding group in a dispute arising from shipbuilding contracts and advising on enforcement of foreign judgments (including EU enforcement orders) in Greece;
  • Representing a major local player in the fossil fuel sector in injunctive proceedings against two major domestic banks in connection with revolving credit facilities;
  • Advising the leading global company in its sector on the exercise of contractual remedies in connection with an agreement involving conflict of laws issues and rights from stand-by letter of credit.
